A Cinematic Game Level

For our last team project at University our Tutors asked us to design and create a project based around the idea of a making a cinematic. What an awesome Idea! With the visual media industries becoming more intertwined, teaching Game Artists cinematic principles feels really important.

I took the role of Art Director across this project, leading artistic vision and asset coherence. A role that really challenged me. Scoping any project is difficult, for this project it was largely based on which camera angles and frames we really wanted to push. We wanted to craft every shot to deliver strong storytelling, visual coherence, as well as composition and showing off each individual artists best work.

The finished piece

Although not being the polished industry standard piece of work I hoped for, it was truly a learning experience. Directing this project really helped to deepen my understanding of Cinema, the creative process and the importance of communication. I am very grateful for having worked alongside such a wonderful team of talented artists.
